PawPal Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 2 November 2026

1. About these terms

1.1 PawPal is run by BC Media Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("PawPal", "we", "us"). "PawPal" means the PawPal app, the website getpawpal.co.uk and any related services.

1.2 These terms apply whenever you use PawPal, with or without an account. By using PawPal you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use PawPal.

1.3 Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal data and forms part of these terms.

2. Who can use PawPal

2.1 You must be at least 16 to create an account. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

2.2 If you use PawPal for a business, you confirm you're authorised to act for it, and these terms bind that business too.

3. Your account

3.1 Keep your login details safe and don't share your account. You're responsible for what happens on it.

3.2 Tell us straight away at support@getpawpal.co.uk if you think someone else has used your account.

3.3 Your account works in the app and on the website. Some features, such as check-ins and earning points or stamps, are only available in the app.

4. What PawPal is (and isn't)

4.1 PawPal helps you find dog-friendly places and share your experiences of them. Listings are built from what businesses tell us, what our users tell us and other publicly available sources.

4.2 Dog policies change, and venues can turn dogs away at any time (for example on busy days, in certain areas or for certain dogs). We can't guarantee that anything on PawPal is accurate, complete or up to date, or that you or your dog will be allowed in. Always check with the venue before you go.

4.3 Businesses listed on PawPal are independent of us. We're not responsible for their premises, staff, services or behaviour, or for anything that happens to you or your dog there. You're responsible for your dog.

4.4 PawPal includes maps, links and content from third parties such as Google. We don't control them, and their own terms apply.

5. Your content

"Your content" means anything you add to PawPal: reviews, ratings, answers, photos, collections (including their names and notes), dog profiles and your profile.

5.1 You own it

You keep ownership of your content. You confirm it's yours to share and that anyone in your photos is happy to appear in them.

5.2 Reviews are public

Your reviews, ratings and review photos can be seen by anyone in the app and on the website, including people who aren't signed in, and may appear in search engines. Each review shows your display name and profile photo. You can change these in your profile at any time. Don't put other people's personal details in a review.

5.3 Collections

Collections are private unless you make them public.

  • A public collection can be seen by anyone with the link, including its name, description, notes, the places in it, and your display name and photo.
  • Public collections can be shared by anyone, may appear in search results, and may be featured elsewhere on PawPal.
  • You can make a collection private, or delete it, at any time. Copies already shared, saved or cached by search engines may take a while to disappear.

5.4 Honest reviews

Reviews must be about your own genuine experience. You must not:

  • review a business you own, work for or are connected to, or one of its competitors;
  • post a review you've been paid, rewarded or asked to write in return for anything, or write one for someone else;
  • review somewhere you haven't been, or post more than one review of the same place;
  • post anything false, misleading, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, sexual, illegal or that infringes someone else's rights, or any spam or advertising.

5.5 What you let us do with it

You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, publish, adapt (for example resize, crop, translate or show an excerpt) and share your content anywhere on PawPal, in our social media, emails and marketing, and with partners who help us show dog-friendly places. Our service providers may use it only to help us run PawPal. The licence lasts while your content is on PawPal. After you delete it, we may keep it in backups for a reasonable time, and marketing we've already published may stay up.

5.6 We can remove or unpublish content

We can decline, unpublish, remove or hide any content, including reviews, photos, collections and profiles, at any time and at our discretion. That includes content we think breaks these terms or the law, puts anyone at risk, or isn't right for PawPal. We may also correct formatting or remove personal details. We don't have to check content before it goes live, and we don't endorse it.

5.7 Reporting

If you see something that breaks these terms, email support@getpawpal.co.uk with a link to it and we'll look into it.

6. Businesses and listings

6.1 Adding and claiming a listing

Businesses can ask to be listed on PawPal or claim an existing listing. If you do, you confirm that:

  • you're authorised to act for the business;
  • what you tell us is true and accurate, and you'll keep it up to date;
  • you have the right to let us use any names, logos, photos and text you give us.

6.2 No guarantee of publication or visibility

We decide whether to publish a listing, what it says and where it appears. Adding or claiming a listing doesn't guarantee it will be published, or that it will get any particular ranking, placement, visibility, traffic, enquiries, bookings or promotion, whether in search results, on maps, in features, on social media or anywhere else. How listings are ordered depends on things like ratings, reviews, distance, relevance and completeness. If we offer paid features in future, they'll have their own terms and will be clearly labelled.

6.3 What we show

A listing may combine what the business tells us (which we may label as from the business), reviews and ratings from PawPal users, and information from other public sources. We may edit, shorten or reword information so it's accurate, consistent and useful for dog owners.

6.4 Reviews of your business

Genuine reviews stay up, including negative ones. Businesses can't edit, remove or pay to remove reviews, and must not offer anything in return for a review or a change to one. If you think a review breaks section 5.4, report it and we'll look into it.

6.5 We can unpublish listings

We can change, hide, unpublish or remove any listing, or remove a business's access to manage it, at any time and at our discretion. That includes if information is inaccurate, the business no longer welcomes dogs, or these terms are broken.

6.6 Licence

You give us the same licence as in section 5.5 for everything you provide about your business.

7. Points, stamps, badges and rewards

7.1 Points, Pawssport stamps, badges and rewards are for fun and loyalty. They have no cash value, can't be sold or transferred, and aren't your property.

7.2 They can only be earned in the app (for example by checking in). The website shows them but doesn't award them.

7.3 We can change or end how they work, and can remove them or cancel a reward if we think they were earned by misuse.

7.4 Rewards offered by businesses are the business's responsibility and may have their own conditions.

8. Using PawPal fairly

You must not:

  • copy, scrape, crawl or extract data from PawPal, or use bots to do so, without our written permission;
  • interfere with, overload or try to get around PawPal's security;
  • create fake accounts or pretend to be someone else;
  • use PawPal for anything illegal, harmful or misleading, or to harass anyone.

9. Our intellectual property

PawPal's name, logo, design, code and directory are owned by BC Media Ltd or its licensors. You can use PawPal for your own personal use, but you can't otherwise copy, reproduce or distribute it without our permission.

10. Fees

PawPal is free to use. If we introduce paid features, we'll tell you the price and terms before you pay, and you won't be charged without agreeing.

11. Our liability

11.1 Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

11.2 PawPal is provided free and "as is". We don't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

11.3 We're not responsible for:

  • losses caused by relying on listing information (see section 4.2);
  • the acts of venues, businesses or other users, or the content they post;
  • losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen;
  • business losses such as lost profit or revenue.

11.4 If you use PawPal as a business, our total liability to you for anything to do with PawPal is limited to £100 in any 12 months.

12. Suspending or closing accounts

12.1 We may suspend or close an account, remove access to PawPal, or remove a business's access to its listing if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, the account has been used for fake reviews, fraud or harm, or we need to protect our users or comply with the law. We may do this without notice while we investigate.

12.2 If we close your account, we'll usually tell you why. If you think we've got it wrong, email support@getpawpal.co.uk within 30 days and we'll review it.

12.3 You can delete your account at any time in the app, or by emailing us. Your public reviews, collections and photos will then be removed or anonymised, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes

13.1 We may change PawPal or these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app, on the website or by email before it takes effect.

13.2 If you keep using PawPal after a change, you accept the new terms.

14. Law and disputes

14.1 If you have a problem, please contact us first and we'll try to sort it out.

14.2 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, but if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings there.
